Crepes: A Poem

<<ahem>>

If Folks make japes about your crepes
which make you scowl and glower:
A cup of milk, a pair of eggs,
and then one cup of flour.
But don't halt! A pinch of salt
    enhances flavor nicely
And to be more savory, some
    pepper works concisely.

This savory crepe the japes reshape,
but if you want the truth,
A half a cup of sugar, then,
    will please your sweetest tooth.
(Just recall that savory / sweet
    is nature's greatest contest,
Use nutmeg 'stead of pepper, please,
    to make them better digest.)

And if you like em thicker,
    and consid'rably more tender,
Of baking powder, teaspoons two,
    more fluffy crepes will render.
Remember too, that always you
must whisk whisk whisk whisk please,
And then a half an hour's rest
    the gluten will appease.

Cook 'em thin and tender, then,
so they don't come out crummy,
And fill with something wettish, then,
    that you consider yummy.
Please forgive my doggerel,
    this trend I'll now reverse.
But, you see, you must agree,
it's both Good Eats and verse!!
